A couple weeks earlier, we climbed Big Slide with some company as our first hike in over four years. That was just a warm up, however, as this day's hike would be longer and involve just over a thousand more feet than any previous climb. This was one of our best hikes ever. We all agreed after climbing Haystack that its view was superior to any of the other high peaks. Basin and Saddleback were great as well. This loop is one of the most spectacular of any in the region. The only negative thing about this day was having soapy lemonade at JBL while taking a break before the final hike out to the car.
