Eighteen peaks remained, zero had maintained trails to their summit.  The best way to attack this problem was by taking care of five at once.  It was around this point when I began to make most of the plans for our hikes.  With a little research, we determined that this was a feasible day trip.  This was to be our first off trail experience since Street and Nye over five years earlier.  This time, however, everything went according to plan.  Following the herd paths was quite simple.  I do not recall ever having to backtrack.  The Macomb slide was a preview for many Adirondack adventures to come.  This trip gave us the confidence we needed to achieve our goal.
