July 24-25, 1993

Nine peaks remained and it was our goal to finish up this season.  For our first hike, we decided it was time for our first overnight trip.  We hiked in on Saturday morning and set up camp beside a lean-to near the Ward Brook truck trail.  With lighter packs, we then climbed Seymour.  We returned to our camping area and went to bed once it got dark.  We were up early the next morning as there were three mountains to climb that day.  The trail was easy to follow and we were back to the truck trail sooner than expected.  The thing I remember most from this trip was trying, unsuccessfully, to catch native brook trout in a tiny stream that drained down off of the Seward's.  Hopefully they will be able to sustain their population in the face of continuing acid deposition.
