Table Top

This was it.  Only Table Top to go.  For this occasion we had Dave Arthur and Randy England spend the night at our house before heading up to the Loj in the morning.  We struggled to find a good path from near Indian Falls leading to the summit.  Eventually we made our way through the initial maze to find a decent trail leading in the desired direction.  Near the flat part at the top of the mountain I noticed that those who were ahead of me quickly turned around and ran past me with a terrified look on their faces as fast as they could.  They were speechless, so I was left to figure out what had happened.  I decided there must have been a bear and ran like crazy behind them.  We quickly caught up to my father who was still making his way up the trail.  It was then that I first heard about a bear, my suspicion was right.  We decided to give it another try and see what would happen.  My father and I were in the lead when at about the same exact place as before, we noticed the trees just to the right of the trail were moving violently.  Again we ran like crazy back down the trail, this time the entire group.  We caught our breath and decided to give it one more try.  This time, at the very same spot, a man walked right down the middle of the trail.  He said we were just a minute from the canister and there was no sign of a bear in the area.  It may not have been a bear afterall, we will never know.  After all that we still had to sign in at the canister and become 46ers.  My brother, Dad and I all touched the canister at the same time.  Then my dad got out blow-pops for everyone as a surprise.  Views were decent, but only from trees.  It was a rather anit-climactic end to what had become a long together.  I was left to wonder, 'What next?'.
